It does not go all of the way through paint, but is a scratch nonetheless. I purchased these and had them installed on my 2022 Heritage Classic 114 for a month before full Basin 2-1 exhaust. They are in great condition and I paid $579.99 from JP Cycles about 2 months ago. There is no rust, or scuffs in the paint, however there a small scratch on one of them that highlighted photos.
