Buying a silencer for your BMW R100RT, R90, R90S, R100S, or R100RS exhaust system can provide several benefits and drawbacks. Here are some pros and cons to consider:
Pros:1. Reduced noise level: Silencers significantly reduce the exhaust noise, making your bike quieter and more discreet, which can be particularly beneficial in urban areas or when riding early in the morning or late at night.
2. Improved engine performance: Silencers can enhance engine performance by reducing backpressure within the exhaust system, which can result in improved acceleration and overall power output.
3. Enhanced aesthetics: Silencers come in various designs, styles, and materials, allowing you to customize the look of your bike and give it a unique appearance.
4. Compliance with laws and regulations: In some regions, silencers are required by law to ensure compliance with noise emissions standards, helping you avoid any potential legal issues.
Cons:1. Cost: Silencers can be quite expensive, especially high-quality models, which may require a significant investment.
2. Weight: Silencers can add weight to your bike, which may impact its handling and performance, especially during aggressive maneuvers or in high-speed situations.
3. Maintenance: Silencers require regular maintenance, such as checking for damage and ensuring proper fastening, to ensure they continue to function properly and safely.
4. Reduced exhaust sound: While a quieter exhaust can be beneficial in certain situations, some riders may miss the distinctive sound of their bike's engine, which can be a source of pride and enjoyment.
Conclusion:Silencers for BMW R100RT, R90, R90S, R100S, and R100RS exhaust systems can provide numerous benefits, including reduced noise, improved engine performance, and enhanced aesthetics. However, they also come with some drawbacks, such as cost, weight, and maintenance requirements. Ultimately, the decision to purchase a silencer depends on your personal preferences, budget, and riding style. If you value a quieter ride and are willing to invest in a quality silencer, it may be worth considering for your BMW. If, on the other hand, you prefer the sound of your bike's engine and do not want to incur additional costs or maintenance, then a silencer may not be necessary for you.
These are in pretty nice condition there is a small amount rust spots here and there but nothing is rusted thru I consider it very minor. These are a slash cut tip and they are louder then stock but not that loud and have a nice tone, I am not sure who made these I was told by someone that they may have been made by hooker but again I dont know.
Left right silencers for Bmw series bikes with 38mm exhaust. I removed these from a Bmw R90s and was going to use them on a project but have gone another way.
